In 1 John 4:1-6, John tells us to test the spirits. Today we have a wide
ranging bunch of false prophets who teach heresy everyday to a multitude of believers who eat it up hook, line and sinker. John dealt with heretics too. The heretics John was dealing with was the Gnostics and Docetists. These false prophets may have claimed Jesus to be Savior, but they claimed Jesus was never here in the flesh. Today we deal with cults who claim Jesus as Savior, but that He is not God. Or others say He is just another God, and some who say you have to speak in tongues or be baptized for salvation. The Bible tells us Jesus is "the Way, the Truth, and the Life," and that, "No one can come to the Father except through Him" (John 14:6). So, how can we tell who is correct in their belief and teaching? God's Word is the only way. Read your Bibles friends! If you don't understand something, the best thing to do is ask someone. Looking up answers to questions you have about the Bible is one of the greatest pleasures the Christian can have; next thing you know you're studying the Bible. Friends this is the way we test the Spirits! You can come test the Spirits with us every week at RVCC! We have service at 6:00PM every Saturday night, and a multitude of Bible Studies during the week. Come see us, and we'll "Test the Spirits" together.
